Overview
Pick It Up ("the App") is a grocery coordination app that lets you notify a partner when you're heading to the store and collaborate on a shared shopping list in real time. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and display name, collected at sign-up via Google Sign-In or email/password.
- A unique user ID generated by Firebase Authentication.
Shopping Data
- Grocery items you add to a list (names, quantities, categories).
- Store names and shopping session history.
- Recipe names and ingredient lists you import.
Device Information
- A Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token used solely to deliver push notifications to your device.
- Standard device metadata (OS version, device model) collected automatically by Firebase for crash reporting and analytics.
Contacts (Optional)
- If you grant permission, the App reads your contacts to help you quickly invite a partner. Contact data is used only on-device for search and is never uploaded to our servers.
How We Use Your Information
- To sync your shopping list with your partner in real time.
- To send push notifications when your partner starts a trip, adds items, or checks out.
- To remember your recently used stores and saved recipes.
- To improve app stability through anonymised crash reports.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Your data is shared only with:
- Google Firebase — for authentication, real-time database, and push notifications (Firebase Privacy Policy).
- Your shopping partner(s) — only the people you explicitly invite can see your shared list.
Data Retention
Your account and shopping data are stored in Firebase Firestore for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at the address below, which will permanently remove all associated data within 30 days.
Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS and stored in Google Firebase, which applies industry-standard security controls. Access to your shopping list is restricted to authenticated users you have invited.
Children's Privacy
Pick It Up is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
You may at any time:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Revoke contacts permission in iOS Settings → Pick It Up → Contacts.
- Disable push notifications in iOS Settings → Notifications → Pick It Up.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
